A paper-cut illustration of tiny figures climbing a red pencil to pin storyboard frames to a giant blank sheet of paper on a blue wall, beside the words Brief. Script. Storyboard. Free.

Give us 25 minutes on a call. Within a week, you’ll have a creative brief, a script, and a storyboard for a 60-second explainer video. They’re free, and they’re yours to keep.

Most explainer videos don’t die in production. They die long before anyone presses record, in a shared doc called “Explainer script DRAFT” that holds three bullet points, a working title, and one comment from legal.

The blank page is patient like that. It’ll happily wait through two sprint reviews, a reorg, and a launch date that slides gracefully into next quarter.

So here’s our offer: We’ll fill it in for you.

The hard part comes first

Writing a 60-second explainer is mostly an exercise in leaving things out. You know your product cold, and that’s exactly the problem. Every feature is somebody’s favorite. Marketing wants the positioning, product wants the features, and sales wants all of it.

Sixty seconds doesn’t have room for everything. That's only about 150 words, and it has room for one problem, one idea, and one thing you want the viewer to do next. Choosing them is the hardest decision in the whole project, and it’s where most teams stall. (Our script has strong opinions about this, too.)

Teams who skip ahead to AI video tools hit the same wall. As we wrote in The eight-second wall, generating clips is the easy part. Without a script holding them together, you get a pile of pretty clips instead of a story.

Here’s the deal

Book a 25-minute call. Bring your product, your audience, and the one thing you want viewers to do after watching. We’ll handle the questions.

If you have them handy, two things help us get it right:

  • Your brand guidelines. That way the script sounds like you and the storyboard looks like you. If you don’t have guidelines to share, we’ll work from your product’s landing page.
  • A messaging and positioning doc for the product or feature we’re explaining. Don’t have one? That’s fine. Plenty of teams don’t, and the brief we write might become the first draft of one.

Send them whenever you can. Either way, the clock starts at the call.

Within a week of the call, you’ll get:

  • A creative brief. Who the video is for, what it needs to say, how it should feel, and what success looks like.
  • A 60-second script. Voiceover and on-screen text, written to be read out loud.
  • A storyboard. Rough-sketch frames with shot notes, so you can watch the story move before anyone animates a single pixel.

They’re yours to keep, with no strings attached. Hand them to your in-house team, take them to another studio, or save them for next quarter. We won’t ask for a contract, a credit card, or a second meeting.

Why give it away?

Because a sales deck can only tell you we’re good at this. A script with your product in it shows you.

And honestly, we like this part. The brief, the script, and the storyboard are where an explainer is won or lost. It’s also where Honeycutt Inc.’s mix of IT nerds and video nerds earns its keep. If you like how we think, maybe you’ll ask us to make the video. If not, you still walk away with the hardest part done.

If you’d like us to make it

No surprises here, either:

  • Price. A typical explainer with a moderate amount of action comes in under $10K. A high-action explainer, with extreme amounts of artwork and motion, lands just under $15K.
  • Timeline. Two to three weeks from kickoff to final delivery.
  • Your time. About two to three hours, total.

We’ve made explainers for products like Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Intune. If you want to see how we animate, Microsoft Teams for frontline workers is one of our favorites. There’s more in our featured animations.

Who it’s for

Anyone can book a call. It works best for B2B tech teams with something worth explaining: product marketers with a launch coming, product managers with a feature nobody understands yet, and founders who’ve explained their product at so many dinner parties that their friends now explain it for them.

Book your 25 minutes

Got a product that deserves 60 great seconds? Book a call with Jerry. You bring the product. We’ll bring the blank page, filled in.
