The Garage Atlanta rise+shine speaker series featuring Jamaal Barber

Microsoft Garage logo

This film opens with the “rise and shine” kickoff for Microsoft’s The Garage-Atlanta, then drops into an interview at the MINT Gallery with Atlanta artist Jamaal Barber. Surrounded by his work, Jamaal walks through his grad school journey, how COVID pushed him from bold, black graphic printmaking into painting, and how he uses color, symbolism, and storytelling to explore identity and social commentary. He also spotlights his podcast, Studio Noize—a Black art podcast featuring artists, curators, executive directors, and creators (from Atlanta and beyond) that he believes people want to hear from…and need to.

We produced this as an artist profile that keeps the viewer leaning in—tight story beats, clear visual intent, and a finish that feels premium without feeling stiff. Preproduction shaped the interview flow and key themes, production kept the shoot organized and human, and post is where it all clicks: line cut first, then a polished edit, color processing, and sound design. And yes—captions, audio description, and thumbnails are part of the package.
