David Mallet hosts a practical exploration of how Microsoft Defender for Cloud Apps helps organizations discover, protect, and govern generative AI usage. He examines common concerns—including data privacy, content ownership, regulatory uncertainty, shadow AI, and the possibility of confidential information wandering into an unapproved browser tab. Demonstrations show how Defender for Cloud Apps can detect suspicious activity involving Copilot for Microsoft 365, investigate possible data exfiltration through the Microsoft Defender portal and Advanced Hunting, discover third-party generative AI applications such as Google Bard, evaluate their risk, and sanction or unsanction them. The session also covers Conditional Access App Control and Microsoft Intune device compliance.
We developed and produced this pre-recorded session for streaming during the live Microsoft Secure Tech Accelerator. Our team created the show structure and graphics package, prepared the presenter, captured and polished the footage, and folded the finished session into a larger multi-channel event without making the audience feel as though the programming had been assembled by caffeinated squirrels. It is the best of both formats: the control and clarity of pre-recorded production, delivered with the momentum, reach, and delightful immediacy of a live show.
