I'm finally able to come up for air long enough to post this entry. January was a very busy month with the release of Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) right around the corner. In preparation for the release, I wrote a good bit of content for Microsoft, including:

January also included work on other projects. For example, I wrote a white paper for Dell Services about Dell Automated Deployment. You haven't heard much yet about their automated deployment solution but you will. It's a very well done product about which I'm very excited.

I also continued working on the Microsoft Operations Framework (MOF) Essentials documentation. This is a series of five guides (Envision, Project Plan, Build, Stabilize, Deploy) that describe how to design and deliver IT solutions as part of a larger lifecycle management framework. They pretty much boil the Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF) down to its essential processes and deliverables and then plug them in to the overall MOF lifecycle. If you've ever wondered how to fit MOF and MSF together (Who hasn't pondered this question?), these guides are for you.

Now I'm moving on to the second edition of the Windows Vista Resource Kit. I'm in the process of updating the deployment content in the book for SP1 and Microsoft Deployment, the next version of the Business Desktop Deployment 2007 Solution Accelerator. We're updating this book on a very tight schedule, but I hope to find some good opportunities to add more value to this book.
